Countrywide Consultants Lose Bid For Class Status

Law360, New York (November 16, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge on Thursday rejected a bid for class status in a wage-and-hour lawsuit brought by two former home loan consultants of Countrywide Home Loans Inc., saying common issues of fact were outweighed by individual differences.

The suit, one of a number filed against the nation's largest mortgage lender, accused the company of cheating its army of consultants out of overtime wages and meal breaks by falsely exempting them from the minimum wage provisions of state and federal employment laws.
