Writer Sues Psychic Over Biopic Screenplay Copyright

Law360, New York (December 21, 2012, 3:36 PM EST) -- Film and television screenwriter and producer Fred Fontana last week hit self-described "intuitive psychologist" Carmen Harra with a multimillion dollar copyright infringement suit, claiming she has been shopping around his copyrighted screenplay about her life to investors without his authorization.

Fontana, who was an associate producer of 1998’s “Soldier,” starring Kurt Russell and 1997’s “Vegas Vacation,” starring Chevy Chase, says he was hired by Harra in December 2011 to rewrite a screenplay for her, though he says essentially wrote it “from scratch.”
