Chase Reaped Improper Fees Off Faxed Statements, Suit Says

Law360, New York (January 2, 2013, 3:24 PM EST) -- JPMorgan Chase Bank NA has unlawfully charged its Georgia-based customers excessive fees for receiving loan balance statements by fax, according to a putative class action removed to Georgia federal court Friday.

The suit, originally filed in Fulton County Superior Court in November, accuses Chase and two of its former subsidiaries — Chase Home Finance LLC and Chase Home Finance Inc. — of violating the Georgia Fair Lending Act by fraudulently charging customers unlawful and excessive fees for sending loan payoff statements from the bank via fax....
