Tom Jones Aims To Revive Negligence Suit Against LA Sheriff

Law360, Los Angeles (January 3, 2013, 5:18 PM EST) -- Famed Welsh singer Tom Jones urged a California appeals court Thursday to let him sue the Los Angeles County Sheriff for negligently releasing funds that had been frozen to satisfy a $9 million arbitration award in a licensing dispute, arguing the sheriff wasn't shielded by rules protecting litigation-related communications.

Jones' attorney Martin Goldman said a trial judge erred in finding the litigation privilege barred the claim he filed in December 2011 after the sheriff released $198,500 from a trust account in Barbara Rosen's name. He had...
