Congress OKs $9.7B For Sandy Flood Insurance Claims

Law360, New York (January 4, 2013, 1:21 PM EST) -- Congress easily passed a measure Friday to boost federal funding for flood insurance claims from Superstorm Sandy by $9.7 billion, following widespread outrage over the U.S. House of Representatives' earlier inaction on a $60 billion Sandy aid package already greenlighted by the Senate.

With a bipartisan 354-67 vote, the House approved a bill to temporarily raise the National Flood Insurance Program's borrowing authority from $20.7 billion to $30.4 billion. The Senate approved the bill with a voice vote shortly after.
