Health Care Union Tie-Up Signals Uptick In Labor Disputes

Law360, San Diego (January 4, 2013, 10:47 PM EST) -- The California Nurses Association’s alliance with the National Union of Healthcare Workers indicates that health care unions may be preparing for aggressive labor law enforcement efforts against employers and rival unions as medical industry players respond to cost pressures imposed by the Affordable Care Act, attorneys said Friday.

The 85,000-member CNA announced an affiliation agreement Thursday with the 10,000-member NUHW to strengthen their stance in disputes with health institutions over employee wage and benefit issues and patient care protections.
