Fidelity Cos. Pay $1.4M To Settle Improper Rebating Claims

Law360, San Diego (January 8, 2013, 8:33 PM EST) -- Fidelity National Financial Inc. affiliates agreed to shell out a total of about $1.4 million to resolve administrative claims brought by the California Department of Insurance alleging the companies gave illegal rebates to real estate agents and others, according to the insurance department Tuesday.

The affiliates consented to pay $1.25 million in penalties and $175,000 to the insurance department for reimbursement of its costs, the agency said in a statement. The investigation and negotiations also led to a related settlement between Fidelity and the district attorneys...
