Cingular, Ericsson Deny Prepaid Patent Infringement

Law360, New York (November 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Cingular Wireless LLC and Ericsson Inc. responded to a small telecom firm’s amended infringement complaint Friday with strident denials of wrong-doing and a litany of counterclaims, including one accusing the plaintiff of inequitable conduct.

The two wireless giants filed their answer in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. In it, they firmly repudiated plaintiff Freedom Wireless Inc.’s contention that the defendants’ prepaid wireless subscribers receive any benefit from any infringement of any Freedom Wireless patent.
