Ecuador-Suit Investor Accused Attys Of Fraud, Chevron Says

Law360, New York (January 10, 2013, 10:49 PM EST) -- Litigation investment giant Burford Capital accused the representatives of the Ecuadoreans in a protracted environmental cleanup battle with Chevron Corp. of making fraudulent misrepresentations to obtain its funding for their case, according to court documents Chevron filed Monday.

Burford targeted the Ecuadoreans over the report by damages assessment expert Richard Stalin Cabrera Vega, which attorney Steven Donziger, who represents the individual Ecuadoreans in the litigation in their home country, had admitted during discovery was ghostwritten, according to a letter by Burford that Chevron obtained through discovery...
