Roche Wants 40 Accutane Suits Junked For Lack Of Experts

Law360, New York (January 11, 2013, 3:43 PM EST) -- Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. on Thursday asked a Florida federal judge to toss 40 suits from multidistrict litigation alleging the pharmaceutical company's acne treatment Accutane causes irritable bowel disease because the plaintiffs have failed to find an expert witness to support their claims.

All 40 plaintiffs, whose actions were transferred in June from Illinois state court to the multidistrict litigation in Florida, missed a November deadline to name a general causation expert, according to Roche's motion for summary judgment. They never responded to a December letter from...
