Budget Settles With FTC Over Fuel Charges

Law360 (November 21, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Budget Rent-A-Car has agreed to a settlement that will put to rest allegations by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission that the rental car company charged certain customers a fee for fuel that was deceptive and violated federal law.

The commission revealed on Tuesday that it had voted 5-0 to accept a proposed consent agreement with Budget, which is a subsidiary of New Jersey-based Avis Budget Group Inc.

The agreement bans Budget from misrepresenting any charge, fee, cost or other term or condition of its rental agreements...
