Disney Stole Christmas Movie Idea, Suit Alleges

Law360, New York (January 15, 2013, 12:37 PM EST) -- The Walt Disney Co. purportedly breached an implied contract by stealing two movie producers' concept for a holiday-themed made-for-TV movie and turning it into the ABC Family film "The 12 Dates of Christmas," according to a lawsuit filed Monday in Los Angeles.

Beth Grossbard and Barri Rosenblum say they pitched the idea for a TV movie called “I Hate Christmas” to ABC Family executives in 2005, describing “a girl's version of the film 'Groundhog Day' with its own unique twist.”
