Ex-Fund Adviser Kinnucan Gets 51 Months For Insider Trading

Law360, New York (January 15, 2013, 4:02 PM EST) -- John Kinnucan, a former consultant for hedge funds who became a vocal and at times threatening critic of the government's crackdown on financial crimes, was sentenced Tuesday to 51 months in prison for insider trading in technology companies.

Kinnucan, whose Portland, Ore.-based firm Broadband Research LLC provided advice to hedge funds, pled guilty before a Manhattan judge in July to passing nonpublic information about SanDisk Corp. and other companies.
