Thor Closes $96M Deal To Buy Scoop Building From Burkle

Law360, New York (January 15, 2013, 10:13 PM EST) -- The $96 million sale of a 61,000-square-foot Manhattan building to Thor Equities has closed, yielding a 47 percent profit for grocery store magnate Ron Burkle who only bought the property a year ago, according to public records filed Monday.

The building in New York City's Meatpacking District on West 14th Street, which houses the boutique Scoop, retailer Alexander McQueen and the Hogs & Heifers bar, was one of several real estate plays Burkle has recently made as he has diversified away from his core grocery business. He...
