Medical Device Rivals In Court Over Bone-Fusing "Smart Staples"

Law360, New York (September 21, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two medical device companies are sparring in federal court over "smart staples", a device expected to change the way surgeons remodel, strengthen, and fuse bone fractures and deformities.

Louisiana-based InteliFuse Inc. sued its Texas rival Biomedical Enterprises Inc. this week in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, alleging infringement by Biomedical’s OSStaple and OSSPlate products, as well as its OSSforce Implant Controller heating device.
