State Farm Skirts Coverage For Sandusky Sex Abuse Cases

Law360, New York (January 17, 2013, 4:19 PM EST) -- State Farm Fire and Casualty Co. and former Pennsylvania State University assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky on Tuesday settled the insurer's lawsuit seeking to dodge coverage for the coach's criminal and civil sexual abuse claims, agreeing that his homeowners policy wasn't triggered.

U.S. District Judge Yvette Kane dismissed the suit after State Farm and Sandusky filed a stipulation in Pennsylvania federal court saying the insurer had no duty to defend or indemnify Sandusky for the underlying sexual misconduct claims.
