Novartis Faces Probe Over Trade With Iran

Law360, Washington (January 23, 2013, 6:25 PM EST) -- The U.S. government is investigating whether Novartis AG's eye-care unit Alcon exported products to Iran and other countries under U.S. trade sanctions, the pharmaceutical company revealed Wednesday.

According to a regulatory filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Novartis learned that a Texas U.S. attorney's office was conducting an investigation into Alcon sales at some point in 2012 and it received a grand jury subpoena requesting documents dating as far back as 2005.
