Store Owners' Taxes Not Winston & Strawn's Fault, Atty Says

Law360, New York (January 24, 2013, 4:19 PM EST) -- A Winston & Strawn LLP attorney told a New York state judge Thursday that the owners of an upscale Madison Avenue women's clothing store can't blame the firm for their tax bills because the firm didn't represent them in a lucrative lease buyout.

The law firm's retainer agreement clearly said that it represented only the corporation, Leggiadro Ltd., and not the store's two principals, Ann and Brooks Ross, according to Winston & Strawn's attorney, Arthur M. Handler of Mound Cotton Wollan & Greengrass.
