NYC Condo Residents Sue Landlord Over Sandy Damages

Law360, New York (January 24, 2013, 5:44 PM EST) -- Residents of the Ocean Luxury Residences at 1 West St. in Manhattan launched a class action in state court Tuesday claiming the building's owners took no precautions to prepare for the storm and were negligent in dealing with the aftermath.

The building, a 31-story condominium on the edge of Battery Park just over 500 feet from the Hudson River, was rendered “uninhabitable” by floodwater that rushed through doors and windows left open by management and by oil from a poorly secured boiler, the complaint said....
