Marilyn Monroe Estate, Licensing Co. End Fight Over Photos

Law360, New York (January 25, 2013, 3:18 PM EST) -- Five months after the Ninth Circuit ruled that Marilyn Monroe's estate doesn't control her publicity rights, a company that licenses copyrighted photos of the actress has dropped a suit seeking legal protection from the estate, according to a settlement filed Wednesday in New York federal court.

CMG Worldwide Inc., which claims to license a publishing company's Monroe photos through a management deal, terminated the suit it filed against the Estate of Marilyn Monroe LLC early last year after the starlet's successors threatened legal action.
