Ex-Galleon Employee Turned Informer Gets 1 Year

Law360, New York (January 31, 2013, 7:01 PM EST) -- A New York federal judge on Thursday sentenced former Galleon Group LLC employee Roomy Khan — who admitted to insider trading and then cooperated with prosecutors — to one year in prison, attributing the relatively unusual sentence to Khan's early efforts to shield her friends.

U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff also ordered Khan, 54, to serve three years of probation and pay $1.525 million in restitution, money she made by trading on confidential information about Google Inc., Polycom Inc., Hilton Hotels Corp. and Kronos Worldwide...
