Kaiser Billing Class Wins Cert. In Emergency Services Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (February 4, 2013, 6:57 PM EST) -- A California judge on Monday certified a class of physicians and health care provider groups who say Kaiser Foundation Health Plans Inc. violated unfair competition law and its contracts by underpaying doctors who rendered emergency medical services to Kaiser-insured patients.

At a Monday hearing, Judge Elihu M. Berle granted a motion for class certification filed by Hooman Melamed and Navid Navizadeh, two Los Angeles County physicians who claim Kaiser lowballed them and other California physicians when they treated its patients.
