LA Makes Residential Density Transfer Easier For Developers

Law360, New York (February 12, 2013, 3:32 PM EST) -- The Los Angeles City Council broadened the city zoning code on Tuesday to allow developers to more easily transfer residential density across parcels in large mixed-use projects, a move that may spark new projects in the area.

Passing in a unanimous vote with no discussion, the new ordinance gives developers more flexibility with their project designs in terms of spreading types of spaces among adjoining parcels of land. With the change, the city hopes to encourage more mixed-use development and housing projects, according to council documents....
