Ex-RI Mayor Gets 2 Years For Contract-Bidding Scheme

Law360, New York (February 12, 2013, 6:26 PM EST) -- A former mayor of a financially beleaguered Rhode Island city will spend two years in prison on charges that he and a friend skirted the competitive bidding process for a contract to board up the city's foreclosed homes, a federal judge ruled Tuesday.

Charles D. Moreau, who stepped down as mayor of Central Falls in September, will serve two years in prison followed by three more years of supervised release. He also must pay a $25,000 fine and perform 300 hours of community service.
