Asarco Settles Silver Bow Creek Dispute For $8.67M

Law360, New York (December 4, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Bankrupt copper mining company Asarco LLC partly settled a dispute over liability for a polluted site with Montana Resources Inc., the U.S. government and the state of Montana, agreeing to allow MRI a claim of about $8.67 million for future remediation costs.

The dispute concerns a flooded mine in Montana known as the Silver Bow Creek/Butte site, which Asarco and MRI had run through a partnership agreement in the 1990s.
