Fox Didn't Steal Plot For Kiefer Sutherland Show, Judge Says

Law360, Los Angeles (February 13, 2013, 10:11 PM EST) -- A New York federal judge on Wednesday let Fox Entertainment Group Inc. escape a suit alleging it stole an author's screenplay and turned it into actor Kiefer Sutherland's TV show "Touch," ruling the two works were dissimilar.

U.S. District Judge William H. Pauley III granted Fox’s motion to dismiss Everette Hallford’s amended complaint claiming “Touch” had violated the copyright of his screenplay “Prodigy,” finding the plot, characters and sequence of the two works were substantially different.
