Sandy Spending Safeguards Clear NJ Senate Panel

Law360, New York (February 21, 2013, 3:16 PM EST) -- New Jersey bills intended to help ensure that Superstorm Sandy relief money from the federal government doesn't fall victim to fraud, abuse or waste continued their advance Thursday, with a state Senate panel clearing the oversight and transparency measures.

The Senate state government, wagering, tourism and historic preservation committee released A-60/S-2536, which would authorize the use of integrity monitors to oversee projects funded with federal relief money, and A-61/S-2566, which would establish a website to create transparency and order comprehensive quarterly reports on how the money...
