Parent Telecoms Dismissed From Patent Suit

Law360 (December 6, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Verizon Communications Inc. has settled a patent dispute with an inventor who claimed the company’s products infringe on his caller identification patent. The suit will continue against Verizon’s Texas subsidiary.

On Thursday, Judge David Folsom of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas approved the stipulation of dismissal without prejudice between Verizon and inventor Morris Reese. The stipulation dismissed Verizon from the suit but did not affect Reese’s claims against the company’s subsidiary, GTE Southwest Inc.
