Federal Circuit Rules For Earth Resource In Lizardtech Appeal

Law360 (October 5, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. District Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has upheld a lower court ruling that found Earth Resource Inc. did not infringe Lizardtech Inc’s patent for compressing large computer images.

The court also affirmed the invalidity of one of the Lizardtech patent.

Lizardtech brought the case to the Federal Circuit court after a district court in Washington ruled that Earth Resource did not infringe the company’s patent for wavelet transforms, which allow images to be greatly compressed with a minimal amount of lost information....
