Ikea Gets ZIP Code Class Trimmed, But Not Scrapped

Law360, Chicago (February 28, 2013, 4:29 PM EST) -- A California federal judge refused to decertify a class of consumers Wednesday whose ZIP codes were collected by Ikea USA West Inc., but narrowed the class to include a smaller time-frame for included purchases and to exclude self-checkout transactions.

U.S. District Judge William Q. Hayes granted in part and denied in part Ikea's bid to decertify or heavily modify the class, finding, among other things, that Ikea had presented undisputed evidence supporting the conclusion that no reasonable customer could perceive the request for a ZIP code...
