Beechcraft Loses Out On $428M Afghan Aircraft Contract

Law360, New York (February 28, 2013, 6:35 PM EST) -- The U.S. Air Force Wednesday awarded a $427.5 million contract to a Sierra Nevada Corp. venture to provide light air support aircraft to the Afghan Air Force, in a blow to Beechcraft Corp., which had banked on the contract to boost company revenue as it emerges from Chapter 11.

The Air Force said it had selected a joint venture led by Sierra Nevada and Embraer Aircraft Holding Inc. to provide 20 of the company’s A-29 Super Tucano light air support aircraft for the Afghan air force....
