'Wedding Crashers' IP Suit Tossed By Calif. Appeals Court

Law360, New York (March 7, 2013, 6:40 PM EST) -- New Line Cinema Corp. on Wednesday defeated a producer’s suit claiming the film studio stole his ideas to make the movie "Wedding Crashers” when a California appeals court found there was no written contract between them that the studio could have violated.

Neil Portman lost his appeal after the court affirmed a lower court’s ruling and took New Line’s side on the contract issue. The panel also found that he was too late to make claims over any alleged oral agreement between them because those claims...
