SUNY Hospital Closing Blocked As Judge Weighs Objections

Law360, New York (March 11, 2013, 2:53 PM EDT) -- A New York judge on Friday extended a stay of the controversial closure of Long Island College Hospital, saying a decision about whether the State University of New York improperly excluded unions and residents from meetings about the closure will come “expeditiously.”

Kings County Supreme Court Judge Johnny Lee Baynes said from the bench that he was “capable of rendering a decision today” but that as a “lesson of discipline” he would extend the temporary restraining order on the closure until further notice.
