DOD Budget Cuts To Fuel Contractor M&As, Official Predicts

Law360, New York (March 12, 2013, 10:04 PM EDT) -- The Pentagon expects some consolidation in the defense industry as a result of budget cuts, and it will closely monitor changes at both the top and bottom tiers of contracting in order to preserve a competitive balance, the Defense Department’s acquisition chief said Tuesday.

Frank Kendall, the Defense Department's undersecretary for acquisition, technology and logistics, said that maintaining competition in the defense industry is one of his top priorities during a period of budget decline.
