McKesson-Affiliated Cancer Centers Hit With FCA Suit

Law360, New York (March 18, 2013, 5:00 PM EDT) -- McKesson Corp. and its cancer treatment affiliates subjected patients to dangerous radiation in understaffed procedures, violating the False Claims Act in the process by improperly billing Medicare for fully staffed treatments, a former medical physicist alleged in Texas federal court Friday.

Dimitri Dimitroyannis, a former chief medical physicist at McKesson-affiliated Texas Oncology PA in Houston, alleged that Medicare was billed for "ghost" employees who supposedly were on hand to administer dangerous radiation treatments even though the procedures were understaffed.
