Goldman's Tourre Targets SEC Audiotape In Abacus Case

Law360, New York (March 18, 2013, 3:28 PM EDT) -- Former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. trader Fabrice Tourre asked a New York federal judge Friday to block the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from “sandbagging” him by introducing new telephone recordings in their pursuit of misrepresentation claims over the failed Abacus investment vehicle.

In a motion filed in federal district court in Manhattan, Tourre said the SEC's case is based on an audiotape of a 2008 telephone call between two employees of ACA Financial Guaranty Corp. discussing the disputed Abacus collateralized debt obligation that the commission's...
