CenterPoint Set Loose From Calif. Antitrust Suits

Law360 (December 14, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- An appeals court has exonerated CenterPoint Energy Inc. from all the California antitrust claims against it, ruling that it can't be held liable for claims against New Reliant Inc., arising from the energy crisis earlier in the decade, before New Reliant became CenterPoint's subsidiary.

The dispute over whether CenterPoint could have been legally responsible for wrongs that Reliant Energy Services Inc. allegedly committed grew out of a complicated series of company transactions made pursuant to a 1999 Texas law.
