Calif. Appeals Court Upholds Los Angeles Zoning Ordinance

Law360, New York (March 19, 2013, 7:49 PM EDT) -- A Los Angeles ordinance that alters the city’s zoning code was upheld Monday when a California appeals court rebuffed a community group’s objections to the ordinance under the California Environmental Quality Act, ruling that the ordinance is not a project under CEQA.  

The appeals court panel affirmed a lower court’s ruling preserving the ordinance and landed a blow to the LA Neighbors United, which had characterized the Community Plan Implementation Overlay Ordinance — which amended the Los Angeles municipal zoning code — as a far-reaching overhaul...
