Deals Rumor Mill: Life Technologies, PepsiCo, CVC Capital

By Karlee Weinmann (March 22, 2013, 1:43 PM EDT) -- California biotechnology firm Life Technologies Corp., said to be on the market for as much as $12 billion, has shifted its focus to strategic buyers as several private equity houses drop out of the bidding race, Bloomberg reported on Friday. While buyout firms had received their share of buzz as they circled the company, insiders now point to Danaher Corp. and Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. as the likeliest buyers. KKR & Co. LP has backed off, as has TPG Capital, which had been part of a consortium that also includes The Blackstone Group LP, The Carlyle Group LP and Temasek Holdings Pte. Ltd....
