NY State Labor Law Exempts Public Hospitals, Judge Finds

Law360, New York (March 26, 2013, 12:51 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge ruled Monday that New York City Health and Hospitals Corp. is a state “political subdivision” that's exempt from state labor law in a putative class action alleging it failed to pay overtime, contributing to a growing trial court split over whether the hospital system is exempt from state labor claims.
