MSG Stunting Penn Station's Growth, NYC Pol Says

Law360, New York (March 27, 2013, 8:01 PM EDT) -- Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer urged the City Planning Commission on Wednesday to limit Madison Square Garden's special lease to 10 years in order to encourage much-needed updates and expansion at Penn Station.

The sports and entertainment venue currently has a perpetual special-use permit to use the more than 800,000 square feet of property atop Penn Station, and has “stifled” the transportation hub's ability to grow, according to Stringer and a number of other local politicians who have recently lobbied for Madison Square Garden to move....
