Hosting Co. Rackspace Beats Uniloc's Computing Patent Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (March 27, 2013, 8:53 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge on Wednesday tossed technology security company Uniloc Luxembourg SA's suit accusing information technology hosting company Rackspace Hosting Inc. of infringing a patented method for processing floating point numbers.

U.S. District Judge Leonard Davis dismissed the suit, finding that Uniloc failed to allege a patentable claim because U.S. Patent Number 5,892,697 constitutes an improvement on the known method for processing the numbers in a computer that have digits to the right of the decimal.
