Walgreen FCA Suit Over Drug Kickbacks Dropped

Law360, New York (March 28, 2013, 4:25 PM EDT) -- A former Walgreen Co. employee Wednesday voluntarily dismissed his whistleblower False Claims Act suit in New York federal court that accused the company and its drug infusion and home nursing units of defrauding government health care programs by paying doctors kickbacks in exchange for providing costly infusion drugs.

U.S. District Judge Robert Sweet dismissed the suit without prejudice yesterday after the anonymous relator submitted a notice of withdrawal earlier this month.

It was not immediately clear why the relator decided to drop the suit.
