Calif. High Court Nixes $1.3M Award In Lucasfilm Bias Suit

Law360, San Diego (March 28, 2013, 7:23 PM EDT) -- The California Supreme Court on Wednesday let stand a decision nixing a nearly $114,000 jury award and $1.2 million in attorneys' fees for a woman who alleged Lucasfilm Ltd. withdrew a job offer after she disclosed she was pregnant.

The state's high court shot down Julie Veronese's petition to review a December ruling by a California appeals court that held the trial judge erred by instructing the jury that an employer's concern for a prospective employee's unborn child was not a defense to pregnancy discrimination....
