170 Cos. File Deficient Forms For FCC Spectrum Bids

Law360, New York (December 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Verizon Wireless, Chevron USA Inc. and Qualcomm Inc. were among the diverse group of 170 companies that must complete applications with the Federal Communications Commission to take part in a January auction for highly coveted airwave spectrum.

The FCC revealed on Tuesday that it had received 266 applications to bid on spectrum licenses at an auction scheduled to take place on Jan. 24. However, only 96 applications were accepted and will become qualified bidders once they pay an upfront payment due by Jan. 4.
