NYC ‘Soda Ban’ Battle Bubbles Up To Appeals Court

Law360, New York (March 29, 2013, 4:16 PM EDT) -- Health groups and the administration of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Thursday began the process of appealing a March 11 ruling striking down the billionaire mayor’s portion limits for sugary drinks known as the “soda ban.”

The city vowed an appeal the day after New York Supreme Court Judge Milton A. Tingling booted the law that would have have banned 24,000 restaurants, delis, food carts and stadiums regulated by the city's health department from selling sugary drinks larger than 16 ounces in size....
