NJ's Enviro Regulator Secures $5M Superfund Settlement

Law360, New York (April 3, 2013, 7:45 PM EDT) -- The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection on Monday announced a $5 million consent judgment with the former owner of a Hudson County property that since has been declared a Superfund site due to severe water and soil contamination.

Defendant Benjamin Farber agreed to the settlement with the DEP under New Jersey’s Spill Compensation and Control Act to pay for past and future cleanup costs at the Kearny site, which was once home to Farnow Inc., a since-bankrupt paint additive company. The settlement, reached March 27,...
