Bill Targeting Illegal Slots Heads To Fla. Senate Floor

Law360, Miami (April 2, 2013, 9:17 PM EDT) -- A bill to ban gray-market slot machines is headed to the floor of the Florida Senate after gaining unanimous support from the Rules Committee on Tuesday despite an outpouring of opposition from senior citizens who fear it will mean the end of senior arcades.

The senators' widespread support for S.B. 1030, sponsored by Sen. John Thrasher, R-Jacksonville, follows in the path of the House of Representatives, which passed the companion H.B. 155 by a landslide 108-7 vote two weeks ago. The full Senate will take up...
