Hogan Lovells Hit With Malpractice Suit Over $36M Verdict

Law360, New York (April 3, 2013, 8:24 PM EDT) -- Two Maryland landowners launched a legal malpractice suit against Hogan Lovells US LLP in state court Monday, claiming the firm's predecessor Hogan & Hartson LLP gave bad advice following a failed development venture that led to a $36 million jury verdict against them.

Limited partnerships controlled by the Camalier and Davis families accuse Hogan & Hartson of giving them bad advice not to execute estoppel certificates requested by Penrose Development Co., to which the families' property had been leased for the purpose of building apartments....
