Natural Foods Co. Faces Label Suit Over Yogurt Ingredient

Law360, New York (April 5, 2013, 1:22 PM EDT) -- Two California women lodged a putative class action in federal court Thursday accusing natural foods maker Clover Stornetta Farms Inc. of flouting federal guidelines and deceiving consumers by mislabeling an ingredient in more than a dozen of its yogurt and dairy items.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has warned companies against using the term "organic evaporated cane juice," because it violates several labeling regulations requiring food manufacturers to label products with the common and usual names of ingredients, according to the complaint.
